Experience Nature Therapy in a safe and welcoming environment with Nellie and Clare. Each week will have a different theme and involve around 30 minutes outside (weather dependent) in the historic Barkly Square gardens, followed by an hour inside participating in an art activity.

Each session will conclude with time to reflect in a journal and share, followed by a meditation.

Art Activities include: rock painting using dot art, body drawing with texta, stick wrapping and more.

Meditations will include: Grounding Meditation, Meditation of the Senses, Tree Meditation and more.

Themes include: Earth, Roots, Tree Trunk, Branches and more.

Please bring a journal in which to note your reflections.

When: 1.00 pm - 2.30 pm, Tuesdays

Registration

Please contact the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House to register for the Mindfulness in Nature with Art course. Paper registration forms will be available at the start of your first class.

There is a limit of 12 places available for this course.

Cost

In order to secure your place in the course, please pay the course fee at the start of the term.

There is also the option to pay week-by-week: $15/session.

You can pay online before the class or on the day either online with cash.

Getting There

Walking: Head to the cafe near the rear entrance of Barkly Square. The entrance for the wonderful A Pot of Courage cafe is located inside of Barkly Square at 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East. Follow the A Pot of Courage signs. Come in past the cafe and head to the end of the hallway, past the community area to the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Community Room.
Driving: You can park on Barkly Street, or behind the building in the car park or on the street along Princes Street North. You can access Princes Street North from Eureka Street or Barkly Street.
Bus: There is a bus stop close to Barkly Square: Route 20, near the corner of Barkly Street and Main Road.
Bicycle: There is bike parking available at Barkly Square.

Public toilets are available within Barkly Square.

Conditions of participation

  • Please read the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Activity Terms and Conditions. You will be asked to agree to these upon registration for this class.
  • All participants in Ballarat East Neighbourhood House activities must follow the current Statewide COVID-Safe principles. We strongly recommend wearing a mask.
  • If you are feeling unwell and/or have cold/flu symptoms please do not come to the activity.
  • Please sanitise your hands upon entry to and exit from Barkly Square. Hand sanitiser will be available.
  • Keep at least 1.5 metres from other people in the activity.
  • Bring your own drink bottle. A Pot of Courage cafe at Barkly Square is open until 2.30 pm (coffee and cake only from 2.00 pm - 2.30 pm) if you would like to purchase hot drinks and food.
  • Arrive 5-10 minutes before the activity starts to allow time to complete any paperwork.
  • If you have any injuries or issues which may affect your ability to partipate fully in the activity, please arrive early and discuss with Nellie.
  • Please store your possessions in the room.
  • A maximum of 12 participants will be able to take part in this activity.
  • Tickets are not transferable.
