Tailored to your abilities and needs, our course allows you to work at your own pace to build up the skills you want to improve.

In these small supportive classes, our teacher, Petra, will help you improve your reading and writing skills.

8-week course

12.30 pm - 3.00 pm

Thursday 21 July - Thursday 8 September

$25 for the 8-week course. This is a Learn Local Course, with costs subsidised through the Victorian State Government's Adult and Community Further Education (ACFE) program in partnership with the Wendouree Neighbourhood Centre.

Registration is required as there is a limit of 15 people for this activity. You can register now online or contact us to book your space and complete a paper registration form in your first class.

To register, please contact the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House team. We are available during school term, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Tuesdays to Fridays. 

Location & getting there

Drawing Group is held in the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Training Room at Barkly Square, 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East. Access to the Training Room will be available from 5 minutes before the Drawing Group starts. Please note that this group no longer meets at Eureka Hall.

Walking: The entrance for the wonderful A Pot of Courage cafe is located inside of Barkly Square at 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East. Follow the A Pot of Courage signs. Come in past the cafe and head to the end of the hallway, past the community area to the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Training Room.
Driving: You can park on Barkly Street, or behind the building in the car park or on the street along Princes Street North. You can access Princes Street North from Eureka Street or Barkly Street.
Bus: There is a bus stop close to Barkly Square: Route 20, near the corner of Barkly Street and Main Road.
Bicycle: There is bike parking available at Barkly Square.

Public toilets are available within Barkly Square.

Conditions of participation

  • Please read the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Activity Terms and Conditions. You will be asked to agree to these upon registration for this class.
  • All participants in Ballarat East Neighbourhood House activities must follow the current Statewide COVID-Safe principles.
  • If you are feeling unwell and/or have cold/flu symptoms please do not come to the activity.
  • Please sanitise your hands upon entry to and exit from Barkly Square. Hand sanitiser will be available.
  • Keep at least 1.5 metres from other people in the activity.
  • Bring your own drink bottle. A Pot of Courage cafe at Barkly Square will be open until 3.00 pm if you would like to purchase hot drinks and food.
  • Arrive 5-10 minutes before the activity starts to allow time to complete any paperwork.
  • If you have any injuries or issues which may affect your ability to partipate fully in the activity, please arrive early and discuss with your teacher.
  • Turn off your phone/digital devices and store your possessions in the room.
  • A maximum of 15 participants will be able to take part in each session of this activity.
  • Tickets are not transferable.
