Playgroup is held at Barkly Square, Ballarat East:

When: 10.00 am - 12.00 noon Tuesdays during school term. 

2025 Playgroup Term Dates

Term 2: 29 April - 1 July

Term 3: 22 July - 16 September

Term 4: 7 October - 9 or 16 December (TBC)

Where: Find us in the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Community Room #103 at Barkly Square. Head down the south hallway from the rear door near the cafe on the ground floor. In nice weather, we may visit the central courtyard.

Who: Parents/carers and their babies, toddlers and pre-school aged children.

Cost: Free of charge. This activity was established with support of a grant from the Ballarat Foundation.

Food/Drink: The cafe is currently closed, but there may be a coffee van open in the courtyard with take away coffee and slices etc. Please bring food and drinks for your child/ren.

Location & getting there

Qigong classes are held at Barkly Square, 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East. 

Walking: The building has entrances on Barkly Street and also access from Princes Street South via the car park. 

Driving: You can park on Barkly Street, or behind the building in the car park or on the street along Princes Street South. You can access Princes Street South from Eureka Street or Barkly Street.

Bus: There is a bus stop close to Barkly Square: Route 20, near the corner of Barkly Street and Main Road.

Bicycle: There is bike parking available at Barkly Square.

Once inside the building, look for signs to locate our Neighbourhood House. If you enter from the courtyard next to the cafe, head to the end of the hallway, past the community area to the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Community Rooms. If you enter from the Barkly Street entrance, keep going straight ahead and you will see our Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Community Rooms on your right. 

Public toilets are available within Barkly Square.

  • Please read the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Activity Terms and Conditions. You will be asked to agree to these upon registration for this class.
  • If you have any injuries or issues which may affect your ability to partipate fully in the activity, and/or if you need any reasonable adjustments, please arrive early to discuss with your tutor.
  • Turn off your phone/digital devices and store your possessions in the room.
  • Registrations are not transferable.

Playgroup Victoria

The Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Playgroup is a member of Playgroup Victoria. Family Memberships to Playgroup Victoria are free of charge and include access to a range of great online resources.

Purpose: The Ballarat East Neighbourhood House facilitates this weekly Playgroup for local parents/carers, who are looking for social connection, and their babies/toddlers/pre-schoolers. The aim is to help connect participants with others in the local community to advance the mental health of both adults and children.In nice weather, the Playgroup is run in an enclosed outdoor space in nice weather with an adjacent indoor space available if required. There is also a closed Facebook Group for registered participants.
