Auslan In The West was established in 2017 to provide the community the enrichment of Australian Sign Language in the Western region of Victoria and in Western Australia. It is a great benefit for everyone to learn a visual language to communicate.

In this course, we will cover all the topics:

  • Learning about Deaf Community and Deaf Culture
  • Communicating with Deaf and Hard of Hearing Community
  • Technology equipment used for Deaf and Hard of Hearing people
  • How to book an Auslan Interpreter
  • Learn Auslan alphabet, numbers and greeting signs

This session will be facilitated by Auslan In The West, Darren and Briana Beath at Barkly Square, Ballarat East.

Darren and Briana Beath are both Profoundly Deaf. Their two children are hearing and their first language is Auslan. They are a bilingual family and communicate in Auslan every day. Darren and Briana have taught Auslan for over 10 years and enjoy teaching Auslan in various settings.
