REGISTER HERE for Term 2 2025 classes and practice sessions

If you need help to register, please contact the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House team. We are available during school term, 9.00 am - 5.00 pm Tuesdays to Fridays. 

Our Auslan courses are Learn Local activities, with costs subsidised through the Victorian State Government's Adult and Community Further Education (ACFE) program in partnership with the Wendouree Neighbourhood Centre.

 

Term 2 2025 classes 

* All courses will be located at Ballarat East Neighbourhood House at Barkly Square, 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East

Community Auslan A - 9.30 am - 12.00 noon, Thursdays from 8 May to 26 June - REGISTER NOW - IMPORTANT: This course, Community Auslan A, is the course suitable for beginners. Classes will be held in community room #102

Community Auslan B - 9.30 am - 12.00 noon, Mondays from 5 May to 30 June - REGISTER NOW - Builds on Community Auslan A. Classes will be held in community room #103

Community Auslan C - 9.30 am - 12.00 noon, Fridays from 9 May to 27 June - REGISTER NOW - Builds on Community Auslan B. Classes will be held in community room #103

Join Jane for these 8-week courses designed to introduce you to Auslan (Australian Sign Language). 

You will have the opportunity to practise in groups and build on your Auslan skills each week.

$80 for each 8-week course.

A minimum of 5 participants will be required for these courses to proceed.

Join other community members for this informal group designed to encourage you to practise the basics of Auslan (Australian Sign Language) in a welcoming group setting.

 

"Voice Off" Auslan Practice Sessions - 10.00 am - 11.30 am, last Saturday of every month (except December and January)

Location & getting there

Auslan classes and Thursday practice sessions are held at Barkly Square, 25-39 Barkly Street, Ballarat East. 

Walking: The building has entrances on Barkly Street and also access from Princes Street South via the car park. 

Driving: You can park on Barkly Street, or behind the building in the car park or on the street along Princes Street South. You can access Princes Street South from Eureka Street or Barkly Street.

Bus: There is a bus stop close to Barkly Square: Route 20, near the corner of Barkly Street and Main Road.

Bicycle: There is bike parking available at Barkly Square.

Once inside the building, look for signs to locate our Neighbourhood House. If you enter from the courtyard next to the cafe, head to the end of the hallway, past the community area to the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Community Rooms. If you enter from the Barkly Street entrance, keep going straight ahead and you will see our Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Community Rooms on your right. 

Public toilets are available within Barkly Square.

  • Please read the Ballarat East Neighbourhood House Activity Terms and Conditions. You will be asked to agree to these upon registration for this class.
  • If you have any injuries or issues which may affect your ability to partipate fully in the activity, and/or if you need any reasonable adjustments, please arrive early to discuss with your tutor.
  • Turn off your phone/digital devices and store your possessions in the room.
  • Registrations are not transferable.
